Billy Vanilli (b. 1995) is a Melbourne-based artist primarily working with oil paint. His detailed paintings possess a cinematic-like quality; appearing as distorted stills from the artist's own life. This is heightened through a shimmering luminosity and intentional cropping that fosters tension and ambiguity. The subjects, often of a domestic theme, radiate a familiar sentimentality, while also hinting at a somewhat unsettling and warped underbelly.

Vanilli has exhibited with La Causa Galeria, Madrid, ES (2024) Michael Reid, Sydney, AUS (2023) Moosey, London, UK (2024); Oigall Projects, Melbourne, AUS (2022); Goodmother Gallery, Oakland, CA (2024); Marian Cramer, Amsterdam, NL (2024); as well as an upcoming solo show later this year with La Causa, Madrid and duo show at Plan X, Milan, IT.
